iPhone app
Tollgait
Walk today, scroll tomorrow. Yesterday's steps become today's screen-time budget.
What it does
Tollgait lets your phone use depend on how much you moved. Each morning it converts the previous day's step count into a screen-time budget. When the budget runs out, the apps you've chosen are locked until tomorrow.
Funding today from yesterday is the point. Late at night, when willpower is lowest, you can't take a quick walk to buy another hour of scrolling. You either banked the steps yesterday or you didn't.
How it works
- Pick the apps to limit.Choose apps, categories or websites through Apple's Screen Time controls.
- Walk.Tollgait reads your step count from Apple Health. Steps you enter by hand don't count.
- Spend it the next day.At the daily rollover, yesterday's steps become today's minutes. When they're used up, the gate closes.
Tollgait Premium
Premium adds friction, never convenience. It can make the gate harder to get past, never easier.
- Slow wake-up. Limited apps stay locked until you open Tollgait in the morning, plus ten more minutes, so the day doesn't start with scrolling in bed.
- Workout lock. Limited apps stay shut during a workout, started and ended from Control Center, Siri or the app.
The free version is a complete app. Budgets, locking, the conversion rate, the daily emergency pass and the rollover hour are never paywalled.
